What You Should Know Beforehand:

1. Are there any locked gates on the property?

  • None of our properties have any locked gates except for the following:
    • 1422 W. 29th Street – we can leave side gate unlocked when switching over utilities
    • 1289 W. 24th Street – provide the utility company our office number (323) 733-2258 and we will provide access to property

2. Is the electric meter located inside or outside the house/building?

  • All meters are located outside of our properties

Online Instructions:

1.)     Go to  http://www.ladwp.com

2.)     Click on Residential Customers

3.)     Click on Turn On Service

4.)     Please read the following page carefully.  Note that there is a $19.00 charge for the first meter, and $3.00 for all succeeding meters.

5.)     Click on Next

6.)     Fill in the form that follows with appropriate details.  Make sure to complete the section under register here.  Click Next when finished.

7.)     Click Next on the following page to begin your service request.

8.)     You will be taken to a new webpage.  Click Next to begin a series of questions required for your service request.

9.)     “Do you have an active account?”  Answer NO.

10.)   “Have you had LADWP service under your name in the last 12 months?”  Answer NO.

11.)   “Service to turn on.”  Answer BOTH.

12.)  “Requested service turn on date (mm/dd/yyyy) must be at least 2 business days from today’s date.”  Leave the DEFAULT DATE, and simply click Next.

13.)   Enter the following fields with the address of your property, and click Next when you are finished.

14.)   “Is the mailing address the same as the service address?”  Answer YES.

15.)   For the account holder information page, make sure to do the following:

-     Fill in all fields asking for your information

-     For “Own/Rent,”  select RENT

-     Leave all employer information fields blank

-     For your phone number, please only enter a US number.  If you        have any relatives living in the US, their number will work just   fine.  If you have no other alternative, then please feel free to use   the UniCa Residential number, provided you update the   information once you get a US number.

16.)   Enter your Marital Status then click Next.

17.)   Enter your Social Security Number.  If you currently do not have one, then please enter 000-00-0000.  Also enter your California Driver’s License or ID number.  If none, enter NONE.

18.)   For Discount Information, select Low Income Discount, since you are still a student.

19.)   “Enter the Meter Access Information that applies to your property.”

-     Most of our properties have the meters where they can be   easily accessed, but if there is a locked gate surrounding the  property select LOCKED GATE ON PROPERTY.

-     Most properties do not have Electric meter(s) located inside   the house/building.

20.)   For the Comments, you may leave it blank and click Next.

21.)   On the next page, please double-check all the information.  If all have been entered correctly, please press Next.

22.)   If you see a message showing that registration was successful, then you are done!  The first bill will arrive in the mail with your account number, and from then on, you may choose to pay LADWP online.

Congratulations, you have successfully set-up your utilities!

GAS

USC Housing Off Campus

What You Should Know Beforehand:

1. If you DO NOT have a Social Security number and/or a driver’s license, you must set up your gas service OVER THE PHONE and will be REQUIRED to pay a deposit between$20-$200.

2. Are there any locked gates on the property?

  • None of our properties have any locked gates except for the following:
    • 1422 W. 29th Street – we can leave side gate unlocked when switching over utilities
    • 1289 W. 24th Street – provide the utility company our office number (323) 733-2258 and we will provide access to property

3. Is the electric meter located inside or outside the house/building?

  • All meters are located outside of our properties


Online Instructions:

These instructions are only for those who have a Social Security Number.  If you do not have one, please skip to “Gas Setup Troubleshooting.”

1.)     Go to  http://www.socalgas.com

2.)     Under the “For Your Home” tab, click on “Self-Service Options”

3.)     Find the row that says “Start Gas Service” and the column that says “Available elsewhere on SoCalGas.com” and click on “Yes.”

4.)     Enter the address of your property and your move-in date.

5.)     On the next page, confirm your address and click on “Next.”  If there the website tells you that the address cannot be found, please double check the information you have entered.  If still it will not work, or if the page says that you must call the company for additional required information, please skip to Gas Setup Troubleshooting.

6.)  Answer the questions that follow in order to complete your order.


Gas Setup Troubleshooting

If you do not have a Social Security Number, or had problems with the website, then please call the SoCal Gas Company with questions regarding your problem.

If they ask for two forms of identification from you (specifically for people without Social Security Numbers), then please fax the information required.

  •   Fax:  (213) 244-8335

Please remember to add the following information on your fax cover sheet, replacing the address with your property:

  •   Attention:  Credit Department
  •   Regarding:
    • (Street No. and Street Name)
    • (City, State, ZIP)
